I'll be speaking at Bloody Scotland: Scotland's new crime-writing festival

Thursday, March 1, 2012

The organisers of Bloody Scotland have asked me to contribute. It's in Stirling, on September 14th-16th. Very exciting, and flattering to be accepted as a Scottish writer. Although I live in Orkney, I was born in London, and The Bone Thief is set entirely within the borders of modern England. My mother was born in Broughty Ferry, just outside Dundee, however, so I do have some ancestral claims.

Jorvik Viking Festival Grand Finale

Sunday, February 19, 2012

It was fantastic being involved in the Jorvik Viking Festival.
The York Press has some great coverage of the closing events, including the burning of the longship.

Book Launch exceeded all expectations

Friday, February 17, 2012

We had a great turn-out for the book launch in this glorious room at York's Mansion House. Nearly every seat was filled, and every copy sold. My only disappointment was that everyone was in modern dress. I'll be giving a lecture in York on Feb 14th

'The Gems Fallen, The Body Rotten': Furnished Burial in Later Anglo-Saxon England

I'll be talking on this (not very romantic) subject in the Archaeology Department at the University of York

Free admission!

The Bone Thief has been printed!

Monday, January 23, 2012

I just heard from Ellie Rankine at Ebury Press that the bound copies of The Bone Thief are back from the printers, and looking beautiful. Judge for yourselves!
